CLE: Two Years of At-Risk Juvenile Guardianships in Minnesota: Lessons Learned and Tips for Success

Minn. Chap. 257D, Guardianship of At-Risk Juveniles, was implemented in August 2022. This advanced level training will dive into what we have seen on a state level since then, and provide tips and best practices for success. We will discuss state court decisions, helpful and not helpful, of at-risk juvenile guardianship petitions, review appellate level decisions, both published and unpublished, discuss strategies for presenting your clients’ cases to improve likelihood of success, and provide tips and best practices for strategically protecting your clients’ access to the SIJS process and ability to adjust status under the incoming administration.
