Demystifying the J-1 Visa

$20.00

The J-1 visa allows certain foreign nationals to enter the United States as exchange visitors to receive training, or to participate in internships and other programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.  But for some J-1 nonimmigrants, acquiring such status comes with a price. In this presentation, speakers John Medeiros (Nilan Johnson Lewis PA) and Matt Woodward (Karam Law) will help demystify the confusion that surrounds this often-misunderstood visa type.  Topics include:

  • What, exactly is the two-year foreign residence requirement, under section 212(e) of the Act?
  • Who is subject to the two-year foreign residence requirement?
  • Waiver options for those who are subject to the two-year foreign residence requirement.
  • Strategies and processing times and how to coordinate the J-1 waiver concurrently with other immigration benefits.

This CLE is designed for both employment-based and family-based immigration practitioners.
